The Ultimate Guide to Curtain Cleaning in Singapore

Let’s be real – most of us have curtains at home. If you prefer blinds, this article might not be for you, so feel free to click away now.

Curtains are great. As someone who has a home with tinted windows, curtains give you that extra privacy when you’re wary that someone’s looking into your home when the sky is dark outside and the lights are on in your home.

Now, I’ll admit – I’m not the kind of person who washes their curtains regularly, unless I’m expecting special guests from overseas. So when I got my resale flat recently, I made sure I bought IKEA curtains that were super easy to wash (not sponsored). No hooks. Just a simple pole to slide the fabric.

Of course, the material was flimsy and cheap. Though it is easy to wash (just toss them into the washing machine), I wasn’t a huge fan of how my curtains looked. If you’re not like me, and your curtains are decent or beautifully designed, here’s probably how you should be cleaning your curtains instead!

Wash your curtains according to fabric type

Is your curtains made of linen? Silk? Polyester?

There’s usually a care label for specific instructions, but generally, for durable fabrics like cotton or polyester, you should opt for a wash with mild detergent.

For delicate fabrics like silk or velvet, you may require hand washing or dry cleaning.

Why curtain cleaning actually matters

If you’ve been putting off cleaning your curtains thinking it’s no big deal – you might want to think again. From trapping dust mites to harbouring mould (especially in humid Singapore), .

How often should you be washing your curtains

Wash your curtains every 3 to 6 months. If you’re home is situated near high traffic areas, or you have pets, you can do it more frequently.

If you have the aircon switched on 24/7, with windows closed most of the time, washing them every 6 to 9 months is fine.

In other words, you would be washing your curtains roughly between 1 to 4 times every year, so you can schedule accordingly.

Engaging curtain cleaning professionals

It might be hard to believe, but professional curtain cleaning actually saves you more money in the long run as opposed to washing on your own.

You may think that washing curtains on your own saves money, but here’s why DIY curtain cleaning doesn’t work and what to do instead.

On top of that, curtain cleaning with professionals includes removal and installation, which saves you the time and effort to do it by yourself.

There’s also flexibility in pickup and delivery, with a fast turnaround in 2-3 days.

Our curtain cleaning services & pricing

Aside from blinds, we clean 3 types of curtains - which can be categorised to day curtains, night curtains and blackout curtains.

1. Curtain wash & steam

If your curtains are made of machine-washable fabrics like cotton or polyester, a good curtain wash might be all you need.

Our day curtains are $8.90 per piece (additional $2 per piece for removal and installation), whereas our night curtains and blackout curtains are charged per kg, anywhere from $8.90 to $12.90.

Night curtains can weigh anywhere from 1.8kg to 4.5kg per piece, whereas blackout curtains can weigh from 3.5kg to 8kg per piece.

We will wash your curtains according to their fabric type and steam them before returning them to you.

2. Curtain dry cleaning & steam

Dry cleaning is your best bet for delicate fabrics or when regular washing just won’t cut it. If your curtains are made of silk, velvet, or any material that can’t handle water-based cleaning, dry cleaning helps preserve their texture and colour while removing dirt and allergens effectively.

It’s also ideal for stubborn stains, deep-seated grime, or blackout curtains that are too heavy for your washing machine.

Our rates start from $9.90 per piece for day curtains up to $12.90 per kg for blackout curtains (additional $1 for removal and installation).
